Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actress, dancer and vocalist since the mid 1990s. Early Broadway roles included Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. Her role as Essie Carmahiel in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel earned her an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in the Play. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford spent the majority of her time working with some of the most acclaimed actors and directors in the stage, film and TV and she continues that award-winning work with several upcoming projects. Ashford in the near future will play opposite Kumail in Robert Siegel's Hulu-exclusive show Welcome to Chippendales which premieres November 22. Ashford is currently working on Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust that stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. This film is a Hulu Original and will be streamed via Disney DTC. Ashford will return to Broadway in the month of March 2023 where he will star alongside Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production is located at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The team behind Hamilton producer Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail will be at the helm of the production. Ashford played Paula Jones, the main actor in Ryan Murphy's upcoming FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the impeachment crisis that swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp as well as other main characters in the first impeachment proceedings in America for more than a century. Ashford was the main character in two seasons on CBS Comedy B Positive. The show was written by Marco Pennette, Chuck Lorre and Linda Lavin. The show also featured Ben Vereen and Hector Elizondo. Other Broadway credits for Ashford are Sunday in the Park, in which she starred with George Wicked legally Blonde, and the role of Lauren In Kinky Boots. For this role, she earned a Tony Award nomination. Ashford was born and raised in Denver and is now dividing her time between Los Angeles, and New York.
