April Lockhart, born in 1995 on July 4th July, began taking piano and guitar lessons from age seven. She was interested in writing songs was ignited. When she was 12 years old, April composed her first single Different. When she was 14 April was a big devotee of her time to writing and practicing songs. In the following months, she began taking notes together with her dad in LA as well as NY. April included other subjects in her song, Take my Hand. These topics were for friends that dealt with things like peer pressure disabilities or even teen suicidal ideas. Lockhart has her own fan base and is a lifestyle blogger with the well-known Ilia clean beauty brand. She was not born having a left-handed hand, which is what makes her the person she is. However, that's not the full story. So, Lockhart's Instagram account doesn't shy away from her disability, but it's not focused on her disability neither. The profile is a statement. The message is that we are more than our physical selves. The identities we have are complex and we contain many different aspects. Lockhart speaks via video in Nashville. "I do not want it to define my existence. I don't want to be only identified as a specialist in disability. This doesn't influence my day-to-day routine. I conduct my business as usual and have developed my own ways to adapt. Since it's a my identity and something worth talking about. Self-acceptance is a lifelong marathon however Lockhart is an absolute inspiration for this aspect. She admits that she's been through periods of being uncomfortable with her body at times being unsure about wearing particular types of clothes showing how much of her body. Nowadays, she dresses what she's comfortable in and post pictures of herself in these outfits on social media, she is proud of herself. Self-love for her was a long process. This is true for everyone, regardless of how much they are afraid. I believe having friends with you who are aware of you and know your heart is really important as they'll be the ones that remind you of what are you concerned about?
